Strikeforce (mixed martial arts)

Strikeforce was an American professional mixed martial arts and kickboxing martial operator based in San Jose, California. Strikeforce events were broadcast by the transmitters Showtime and CBS, highlights and backgrounds were also broadcast on NBC.

Strike Force was established in 1985 as a kickboxing organizer Scott Coker, who runs the company as CEO. 2006 turned to the organization of the MMA and has since organized fights among other things, Fedor Emelianenko, Gegard Mousasi, Alistair Overeem, Brett Rogers, Fabricio Werdum and Dan Henderson. Strikeforce events often take place in San José, in the HP Pavilion.

On March 12, 2011 Strikeforce by Zuffa LLC was bought, the parent company of the UFC. After Strikeforce was still out independently of the UFC and retained its independence, the organization was finally incorporated in January 2013 in the UFC. This meant the end of the organization and a large number of those still under contract fighters joined the UFC.
