Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church (Ljubljana)

Cyril and Methodius is the only Serbian Orthodox church building in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. Named after the " Slav Apostles " Cyril and Methodius church is located near the Museum of Modern Art and the National Gallery of Slovenia on the corner Tivoli-/Prešeren-Straße.

The church built in 1936, was designed by architect Momir Korunović. It has five domes, which are crowned with golden crosses. The interior is completely painted with frescoes, dating from Dragomir Jašović and Miso Mladenovic. The iconostasis made ​​Mirko Šubic 1940. From the domed ceiling looks Christ Pantocrator down while they are in the niches of the apostles.

Only in 2005 the church was consecrated by the Serbian Patriarch Pavle and also officially opened. Also in attendance were the Slovenian President Janez Drnovšek and the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Alojz uranium. Tomáš Špidlík brought from the Vatican some relics of St. Athanasius, to show the solidarity of the Roman and Orthodox Church.

Since 10 April 2010, the church is cultural monument of regional importance.
