Stu Barnes

Douglas Stuart " Stu " Barnes ( born December 25, 1970 in Spruce Grove, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach. During his career he played for the Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres and Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League. He is currently the Dallas Stars assistant coach under head coach Marc Crawford.

Together with NHL goalie Olaf Kolzig, he is also co-owner of Tri -City Americans of the Western Hockey League, for which both played in front of their NHL career.

Career

After Barnes had played in the Western Hockey League with the New Westminster Bruins and Tri -City Americans for three years between 1987 and 1990, he joined season 1990/91 to the Canadian National Team. Previously, he had been already selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 at the fourth overall position of the Winnipeg Jets.

For the Jets, the Canadian was in the 1991/92 season his debut in the NHL and this remained until the 1993/94 season into loyal, before he was transferred to the Florida Panthers.
