Stuart Tinney

Stuart Tinney, OAM, ( born December 7, 1964 in Mundubbera, Queensland ) is an Australian event rider and horse breeder.

At the age of eight years Tinney began to ride for the first time when he was in his spare time worked as a drover in the area around Gladstone in central Queensland. In 1986 he took part in national competitions versatility, from 1990 in international events. Tinney reached numerous placings in the top ten and gradually established among the world leaders.

He celebrated his biggest success at the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000, when he won the gold medal in the team standings ( with the horse Jeepster ). Four years later, the Australian team finished sixth. Tinney's best result at World Equestrian Games is a fourth place in 2002 in Jerez de la Frontera. In competition, the highest category (CCI ****) he achieved victory in this important Eventing Australia in 2009 after two second places at the Australian International Three Day Event (2003 and 2006).

Tinney lives with his wife and two daughters in Maraylya, around 40 km north- west of Sydney, where he owns a horse breeding operation. In 2005 he wrote a book about cross-country riding, entitled "Making the Time: An Expert Guide to Cross Country Riding" (ISBN 1-40510-292-6 ).
