Stuart Whitman

Stuart Whitman ( born February 1, 1928 in San Francisco ) is an American actor.

Life and career

After graduating from high school Stuart Whitman was for three years for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Thereafter, he studied at the Los Angeles Academy of Dramatic Art then toured Whitman with the play Here Comes Mr. Jordan across the USA. At the same time he was seen in the first films and television series.

1960 Stuart Whitman got his first leading role in the underworld with May Britt and Peter Falk. In 1961, he starred with Maria Schell and Rod Steiger in Branded. For his starring role in this movie Whitman in 1962 nominated for an Oscar. It was followed by other roles in The Comancheros (1961 ) with John Wayne, The Longest Day (1962), Guide to Murder (1964) and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965). 1967/68 Whitman played the title role in the television series The Marshall of Cimarron. Then Stuart Whitman starred in numerous television productions and individual movies without major significance.

1998 Whitman was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
