The StubHub Center (or: StubHub Center! ) Is a multi-purpose sports complex on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, Los Angeles County.
History
On the 125 acre ( 505,857 square meters) of area, the 27,000 -seat football stadium with 48 boxes and 1,500 club seats is a central element. It is home to the football teams Los Angeles Galaxy and CD Chivas USA of Major League Soccer (MLS ) as well as the reserve team Los Angeles Galaxy II in the USL Professional Division ( USL Pro). The construction of the football stadium began on 26 February 2002 and after about nine months, was on June 1, 2003, the inauguration will be celebrated. It is after 1999 opened the second primarily designed for the football stadium of a professional football team in the United States Columbus Crew Stadium.
In addition to the football stadium and ten training courses (two of them with artificial grass ) is, among other things covered velodrome VELO Sports Center with 2,450 seats, a tennis stadium with 8,000 seats including 30 additional courts, a track and field facility with 2,000 fixed seats (expandable to 20,000 seats) and a five-kilometer jogging track.
The construction costs for the entire sports complex amounted to about 150 million U.S. dollars. The football stadium, beating out with about 87 million U.S. dollars on the bill. By June 2013, the American home improvement and furnishings chain The Home Depot was title sponsor. Since June 1, 2013 Its official name StubHub Center after belonging to eBay online ticket exchange StubHub! . Financial details of the multi-year agreement between the Anschutz Entertainment Group and StubHub! were not known. To play the LA Galaxy against the Portland Timbers on June 19, 2013, the stadium was opened under a new name.
Events
In addition to the Los Angeles Galaxy and CD Chivas USA in 2009 it was the home stadium of Los Angeles Sol of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS ), but broke up again immediately after their first season. The lacrosse team the Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL ) used the stadium in 2006 to 2008. Here were four group matches, the 3rd place match and the final of the women's football World Cup in 2003, the final of the MLS 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2011 and the MLS All -Star Game held in 2003. In June 2005, also took place two group matches of Group C in the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2005 at the Home Depot Center.
The football stadium is also a popular venue for boxing matches. The AstroTurf NFLPA Collegiate Bowl made 2012 station in the former Home Depot Center on January 21. The American football game between the American team and the national team ended with a 20:14 victory for the Nationals. In addition, the matches in the CIF State Football Championship Bowl are located in the stadium and will remain there until at least 2014.
In tennis stadium, the Corel WTA tennis tournament in Los Angeles took place from 2003 to 2009. From 23 to 26 June 2005, the athletics stadium hosted the USA Track & Field Championships. Also, in the athletics meeting Adidas Track Classic is since 2005 in the athletic stadium of Carson on the stage.
