Students Islamic Movement of India

The Students Islamic Movement of India ( SIMI ) was founded as Islamist student movement in April 1977 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

Since 27 September 2001, the association is prohibited by the Indian central government. Reasons for this are the "anti - national and destabilizing activities " of SIMI, their " controversial attitude to the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Indian Union ". The SIMI is brought into connection with the bombings in Mumbai 2006 and the bombing of the Shramjivi Express on 28 July 2005.
