Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben

The Stuttgart Hymnus Boys' Choir was founded in 1900 by Paul Lechler. The first choir director was Gotthold Kimmerle. Role models for the establishment were the famous boys' choirs from Leipzig ( St. Thomas Boys Choir ) and Dresden ( Cross Choir).

The choir gained after the Second World War, Gerhard Wilhelm concert tours at home and abroad recognition and has been an integral part of the Stuttgart musical life. 1987 Professor Gerhard Wilhelm put down after 41 years his work as director of the choir of age. He was followed by Eckard Weyand ( line 1987-1992 ), after Hanns -Friedrich Kunz ( line 1992-2010 ). Since April 2010, directs Rainer Johannes Homburg the choir.

Since 1970 about 150 boys and 60 young men rehearse in your own home choir, which was designed by Günter Behnisch. The hymn choir has no boarding. The boys live with their parents and attend different schools.

Each chorister is trained in individual lessons by trained vocal leaders and Stimmbildnerinnen. This individual promotion will continue throughout the boys' choir of time and also in the men's choir.
