Style sheet (desktop publishing)

A style in Information Technology has the task to facilitate the entry of data and should lead to a uniform, clear and structured representation of the data.

In word processing or desktop publishing programs a style (also called style sheet ) can be a combination of any format features topped with a common name, stored and assigned to a piece of text to a step as necessary. In older programs is also spoken by printing templates. Word-processing and desktop publishing programs could theoretically be programmed so that the user would be able to apply to every conceivable format features templates. In practice, this is not the case: are usual character styles and paragraph styles. In addition, for example, would still section, table, or list styles imaginable. Filed styles are usually in a so-called template, ie a pattern file that is assigned to each working file.
