StyleWriter

StyleWriter refers to a series of inkjet printers from Apple for the in-house Macintosh computer. The printing unit came from Canon, on later models of Hewlett -Packard; nearly identical devices were sold by these manufacturers for IBM-compatible computer.

The StyleWriter were operated on the RS -422 interface, which possessed all Macintoshes, up to and including the platinum gray Power Macintosh G3. The interface timing carried by the printer so that the data could be transmitted at high speed to the printer. There was some models adapter to integrate the printer in a LocalTalk or Ethernet network.

The printer was granted a great success because of the high printing speed, high print quality and quiet operation. The fact that the paper supply for most devices was carried out from above, problems with feeding were relatively rare.

The StyleWriter were invariably QuickDraw printer without its own main processor. PostScript files could be issued only with the help of grid programs.
