Styrsö-class mine countermeasures vessel

The Styrsö class is a class of mine countermeasure vessels of the Swedish Navy.

This ship class is for both types of disposal ( search and rooms) equipped marine mines. It is classified as a minesweeper as well as mine hunting boat. Further, the ships of this class are used to guarding purposes.

Equipment

The vehicles are equipped with both mechanical Räumgeschirr as well as acoustic and magnetic devices for Nachschleppung, as against magnetic mines. In addition, this class of ship has an underwater drone of the type " Uven " with Sonar Enlightenment.

A total of four ships of the Styrsö class whose name derived from Swedish islands exist ( "Ö " is the Swedish word for island):

  • HMS Styrsö (M11 )
  • HMS Spårö (M12)
  • HMS Skaftö (M13 )
  • HMS Sturkö (M14 )

HMS stands for Hans / Hennes Majesty Skepp ( His / Her Majesty's Ship). All four ships are at the stationed on Muskö 42 mines clearing.
