SU Agen Lot-et-Garonne

The Sporting Union Agen Lot- et- Garonne ( abbreviated to SU Agen ) is a polysportiver club from the French town of Agen in the department of Lot- et- Garonne. History

A teacher at the local high school and a dentist, both from England, brought the Rugby sport to Agen. Together with a local they founded the club in 1900. This also included other departments, but rugby was early dominant. The SU Agen reached the Cup finals for the first time in 1930 and won it ( against U.S. Quillan ). In the following years the club also scored successes in the Challenge Yves du Manoir with a win in 1932 and a final appearance in 1933.

A very successful period for the club were the 1940s. In 1943 the SU Agen defeated in the final of the Coupe de France, the team of Stade Bordelais, but lost the championship final against Aviron Bayonnais. 1945 won the SU Agen her second championship with a final win against FC Lourdes. In the same year the team also won the Cup final against AS Montferrandaise. Once again, the championship finals reached Agen in 1947, but lost to Stade Toulousain.

The time last championship won Agen in 1988 after the final victory against Stadoceste Tarbes.

Since winning the Challenge in 1992, the team was able to celebrate any significant successes more. In 1998, she lost in the final of the European Challenge Cup against U.S. Colomiers, four years later in the championship final against Biarritz Olympique.
