Subaru 1500

The Subaru 1500 is the first vehicle in the automotive division of Fuji Heavy Industries. Developed under the code name P1 prototype had a monocoque body, independent front suspension on double wishbones and a rear live axle on leaf springs with three layers. The 1500 has a similar appearance to the Peugeot 403, the 1.5 -liter four- cylinder OHV engine, codenamed " FG4A " came from the Peugeot 202 and was manufactured under license by Fuji Precision Technology later known as Prince Motor Company. Later, another engine with the code name "L4 - 1" by Fuji Heavy Industries has developed a water-cooled 1.5 - liter inline four-cylinder engine and overhead valves, but 20 percent lighter than its predecessor was. Only 20 " P-1" ' s were built, 11 of them with the " FG4A " engine. Six units of 1500 were asked to Isesaki Ota Honjo taxi company for testing. These were successful, resulting in Fuji Heavy Industries encouraged felt to build vehicles and four years later hung up the first model as a large series with the Subaru 360.
