Subaru Tribeca

Subaru B9 Tribeca (2005-2007)

The Subaru Tribeca is a sport utility vehicle of the Japanese all-wheel drive passenger car automaker Subaru, which has been produced since the beginning of 2005. Until conducted in autumn 2007 revision was the vehicle B9 Tribeca.

Development

Originally, the model was named B9 Tribeca, which was composed of the symbol B9 ( Subaru internal name of the market segment ) and the city name portion of Manhattan Tribeca.

The Tribeca was developed at a time when General Motors still owned shares in Subaru. Therefore, the Tribeca should be distributed within the usual GM badge engineering process as a model of the GM subsidiary Saab. However, the end of 2005, GM sold its stake in Subaru, and the plans were abandoned in favor of a GM -based platform Saab 9-7X.

For the first time in the history of Subaru, a model is made exclusively in an American factory, since it is not produced in Japan yet officially offered with the Tribeca. The production and assembly is carried out by Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant in Lafayette, Indiana.

The Tribeca was introduced to the North American market in early 2005, in Germany it was available until the fall of 2006.

Facelift

After only three years of production, a modified Tribeca at the North American International Auto Show ( NAIAS ) was introduced in autumn 2007. Subaru took the main points of criticism with regard to the design and driving performance. By revising the abbreviation B9 was deleted from the name so the car since then only called Tribeca.

The Tribeca received a conventional designed front end, a more powerful engine, improved transmission tuning and modified side windows. The displacement of the boxer engine was enlarged to 3.6 liters.

Due to lack of buyer interest, the sales to Europe in the autumn of 2010 has been set. In the U.S., however, the Tribeca is still in the program.
