Suckling Airways ( previously temporarily Scot Airways ) was a British regional airline based in Cambridge and a subsidiary of Loganair.

History

Suckling Airways was founded in 1984 as Suckling Aviation by Roy and Merlyn Suckling as a taxi and charter company and started its operations in 1986 by a grass runway in Ipswich. The line operations began in 1986 with connections from Ipswich to Manchester Airport and Amsterdam. For use was a Dornier Do 228-200. In winter 1987, the grass runway softened by extremely heavy rainfall to such an extent that the runway was almost completely destroyed by sucklings Do 228. Flight operations could be temporarily continued by the RAF Wattisham Airfield ( Suffolk ). Then you moved the headquarters to Cambridge.

The air traffic has been gradually from Cambridge to Edinburgh and parallel extended from Norwich. For this, a Dornier Do 328-100 was obtained. 1990 bases were set up in Luton, Southampton and Stansted and new compounds such as Cambridge - Amsterdam, Luton - Paris -Charles de Gaulle, Stansted - Zurich and Southampton - Amsterdam added. 1999, scheduled service from London City Airport was taken to Dundee and Glasgow. At the same time, the company was renamed Scot Airways.

In 2005 the first BAe 146-200 was for the line London -City - Edinburgh procured. Edinburgh with KLM Cityhopper for London -City - - It codeshare agreement with Flybe for London City Amsterdam were closed. 2007 was followed by a franchise agreement with the Irish Air France subsidiary CityJet. The flights from London City Airport are made under the Air France flight numbers. This was followed by a further agreement with Blue Islands.

In July 2011 it was announced that Scot Airways was bought by Loganair. It operated again since then under its former name Suckling Airways. In February 2013, Loganair decided to take over the operations of Suckling Airways. So the search began in April 2013 gradually aircraft transfer to Loganair. With the transfer of the last aircraft, the Dornier 328 G- BYHG, extinguished the pilot's license of Suckling Airways on 16 May 2013.

Destinations

Suckling Airways offered on behalf of the brand in line CityJet flights from London City Airport to Dundee and Edinburgh as well as charter flights in its own name. In addition, for flights Flybe and other companies were conducted.
