Sud-Ouest Region (Burkina Faso)

The region lies in the southwest includes the provinces Bougouriba, Ioba, Noumbiel and Poni, bordering Ghana and Côte d' Ivoire and has on 16,576 km ² 623 056 inhabitants ( 2006 census ).

Sud -Ouest is rich in flora and fauna, the landscape is characterized by humid savannah.

The region was created in 2001. About 60 percent of the population practicing indigenous religions, 25 percent are Christians and 15 percent Muslims.

Main source of income is agriculture, the rich cultural heritage of the Lobi attracts many tourists.
