Sudan national basketball team

The Sudanese national basketball team of the gentlemen representing the Sudan in international basketball games. At the beginning of its history, it was next to the neighboring country and African basketball pioneer Egypt among the strongest national teams in Africa. In the first edition of the African Cup of Nations 1962, she won a silver medal behind the Egyptian selection. Recently, she became in 1978 qualify for a continental finals. To participate in a global finals at the World Cup or the Olympics, it was not enough so far.

Among the most famous Sudanese basketball players include NBA professionals Manute Bol (1962-2010) and Luol Deng ( born 1985 ), who were born as black Africans in South Sudan today to be counted part of the country. Deng takes in international matches for the UK.
