Sudanese Union – African Democratic Rally

The Sudanese Union ( also Sudanese Union - African Democratic collection, abbreviation U.S. RDA, French Soudanaise Union or Union Soudanaise - Rassemblement Démocratique Africain ) is a Malian political party.

History

The party was founded in 1945 by Mamdou Konaté and Modibo Keita under the name Sudanese Block ( Bloc Soudanais ). The following year, she collaborated with the African Democratic Rally Party ( RDA), the inter-regional coalition of anti-colonial Pan-African parties that were active in French West Africa.

In 1956, the U.S. RDA won the elections to the National Assembly in French Sudan. With the death Konate 1958 Keita received the full control of the party.

After the independence of the Mali Federation (or the Sudanese Republic) in 1960, the U.S. RDA established as the sole legal party in the country; However, the party was officially disbanded after the coup by Moussa Traoré. Over the next two decades, the U.S. RDA could only act in the underground and in 1990, the party of the growing democracy movement kicked Traoré authoritarian rule and became part of the Alliance for Democracy in Mali ( ADEMA ).

In 1992, Tiéoulé Konaté a rather unsuccessful attempt as presidential candidate of the U.S. RDA and defeated Alpha Oumar Konaré of the ADEMA.

In 1998, the U.S. RDA split into two factions, the dissenting members followed in 2001 Daba Diawara and founded the Independence, Democracy and Solidarity Party ( PIDS ).

In the parliamentary elections in July 2007, the party was re-elected to the National Assembly of Mali and won a seat in parliament.

Mamadou Touré Bamou is the current party president of the U.S. RDA.
