Suderburg

Suderburg is a municipality in the midst of the Lüneburg Heath in the district of Uelzen, Lower Saxony. In the community Suderburg - which belongs to the Samtgemeinde Suderburg - home to around 4,500 inhabitants at about 1000 students.

History

In the year 1004, the place Sutherburg was first mentioned in a document.

In 1957 the villages Graulingen, Oldendorf I and Suderburg were summarized today Suderburg.

  • The water mill on the Hardau in Suderburg was first mentioned in 1577 and was operated until 1973.

Sports

  • VfL Suderburg v. 1912 eV is a sports club with more than 1,250 members in 16 divisions. The fall cross-country skiing is one of the 100 largest running events in North Germany. Furthermore, a Radwettbewerb takes place in September each year: individual time trial over 30 km.

  • Suderburg is the site of Valenzi GmbH & Co. KG. The company processed wild mushrooms, forest fruits and soup garnishes and employs over 80 people on site.

Education

Suderburg is the site of Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. The former University of Applied Sciences Suderburg was part of the University of Applied Sciences Nordostniedersachsen and forms mainly in the field of environmental and hydraulic / water out. Traffic

Suderburg is on the railway line between Hanover and Hamburg and is joined by the metronom railway company about every hour with Hanover and Uelzen (Hannover is connected by train in about 50 minutes).
