Südweststadion

Currently, the stadium is only now and again used by the FC Arminia 03 Ludwigshafen.

The Südweststadion is the sports stadium in the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein. It is now used for cultural events ( open-air concerts). International artists who appeared in Südweststadion were, among others, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Peter Maffay, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Eros Ramazzotti, Bon Jovi, Herbert Grönemeyer and Bruce Springsteen.

Between 1950 and 1970, numerous sporting events took place in the West Stadium. The record number of visitors there were in 1952 when the final of the German soccer championship between VfB Stuttgart and 1.FC Saarbrücken. The 83,000 spectators could be accommodated by additional grandstands. The 1st FC Kaiserslautern was in this sports venue because of the higher seating capacity of the stadium over the West Betz mountain stadium many of his final matches in the German championship from.

At the start of the Bundesliga season 1978 /79 1 FC Kaiserslautern was two home games in the long guest Südweststadion due to the expansion of their own stadium at the Betz mountain. From 1983 to 1989, the SV Waldhof Mannheim was the lack of a suitable own bundesliga stadiums from 102 Bundesliga games in the South West Stadium. From 2005 to 2009, the FSV Oggersheim wore its home games in this venue.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the former Adolf Hitler stadium took place in 1937. 1940 it was completed and offered 14,000 spectators. During the Second World War, the stadium was destroyed and rebuilt with the rubble of Ludwigshafen city and the city of Mannheim from 1946. The reopening took place on 11 November 1950. The capacity is officially 41,383 seats.

Today, the West Stadium is in a very bad state, since there is not a financially strong tenant. The seat stands in both curves are closed because of disrepair. Since the FSV Oggersheim 2007 ascended to the Regionalliga, the city of Ludwigshafen decided a renovation was estimated for the approximately 1.5 million euros. In particular, the security requirements of the DFB were realized. Since 12 June 2007, worked extensively in the stadium. After the construction, the capacity is limited to 6,000 places.
