Suffragan bishop

A suffragan bishop is a bishop of a diocese under the authority of a metropolitan.

Roman Catholic Church

The archdiocese led by the Archbishop, together with the associated suffragan sees a church province. A suffragan bishop may also be an archbishop, whose archdiocese is subordinated to another archdiocese.

Anglican Church

In the Anglican Church the suffragan bishops are mostly regional bishops who run together with one ( arch) bishop a large diocese. The ecclesiastical provinces in the Anglican Church are led by an archbishop or primate.
