The Sugar Grove station is located at Sugar Grove, West Virginia. It is operated by the National Security Agency.

In 1955, a Naval Research Laboratory, the U.S. Navy was founded in Sugar Grove. The site was chosen because of the natural shielding by the surrounding mountains and the resulting extremely low noise.

According to British investigative journalist Duncan Campbell and monitoring experts, this site was part of the ECHELON network. Four antennas with diameters of 9.2 m, 18.5 m, 32.3 m and 46 m received the telecommunications INTELSAT / COMSAT satellite.

In 2001, the European Parliament has determined that the Echelon network, which includes the Sugar Grove station is to include, is used for the interception of private and commercial communications.

On the grounds were formerly two Wullenweber circuit antenna systems of the type AN/FRD-10, the outlines of which can still be seen in satellite photos.
