Suheir Atassi

Suheir Atassi (Arabic سهير الأتاسي, DMG Suhair al - ʾ Atasi, born 1971 in Damascus ) is a Syrian dissident and since November 2012, a Vice President of the opposition coalition.

Atassi was born in Damascus in 1971 in the famous Atassi family from Homs. She studied French literature and education at the University of Damascus. From 2000, she was active in the Damascus Spring, where she led the media wing of the banned Jamal al - Atassi Forum, which was named after her father - a founding member of the Baath Party.
