The people of the Sukuma has its settlement area on the south shore of Lake Victoria in Tanzania. Here about three million people. The Sukuma are one of the largest ethnic groups in Tanzania, they represent about 13 percent of the total population. There is a kinship with the people of the Nyamwezi. An important center of the Sukuma is Mwanza.
The Sukuma operate mainly agriculture, fishing and animal husbandry.
