Sulejman Tihić

Sulejman Tihić (* November 26, 1951 in Bosanski Šamac ) is a Bosnian politician.

Tihić was from November 2002 to November 2006 Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and represented in the Bosniak ethnic group. 2004 and 2006, he held the rotating presidency of the Presidency for eight months.

Life

Tihić first studied law at the University of Sarajevo. He is married and has three children.

Policy

In 1990 he was one of the founding members of the Bosnian Party of Democratic Action (SDA ). From 1994 to 1999 he served as a diplomat in the Bosnian Foreign Ministry.

On 13 October 2001 Tihić was elected to succeed Alija Izetbegovic as chairman of the SDA. A year later, on 5 October 2002, he managed to move into the state presidency.

In the elections in October 2006, he was defeated Haris Silajdžić, the Tihić as representatives of the Bosniak replaced in the state presidency.

Since March 2007 Tihić is a member of the Presidium ( Kolegij ) of the House of Peoples in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
