Schwefeldifluorid is a chemical compound selected from the group of fluorides.
Production and representation
Schwefeldifluorid can (II ) fluoride (I ) fluoride (20 ° C ) are obtained at pressures of < 25 mbar (150 ° C ) or silver by halogen exchange in the reaction of sulfur dichloride with potassium fluoride (170 ° C) or mercury, whereby other sulfur fluorides arise.
Also possible is the preparation by reaction of carbonyl fluoride.
Properties
Schwefeldifluorid is a colorless gas, which as a monomer (SF2 ), as also exists as a dimer and trimer Dischwefeltetrafluorid Trischwefelhexafluorid. There is momentarily stable only in the diluted state and only in the absence of decomposition catalysts ( such as hydrogen fluoride or metal fluorides ), otherwise it decays via the di-and trimer Thiothionylfluorid and sulfur tetrafluoride.
