Suliko

Suliko ( სულიკო ) is a Georgian word that means "soul." It is also a (mostly female ) proper name and the title of a love poem that Akaki Tsereteli in 1895 wrote and was set to music and then is considered as a traditional Georgian folk song. During the reign of Josef Stalin, whose favorite song it was, it was frequently broadcasted on the radio and therefore widely known throughout the Soviet Union and the Soviet Bloc. In German, the song was known especially for the interpretation of Ernst Busch.
