Sullivan County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Blountville.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme northeast of Tennessee, bounded on the north Virginia and has an area of ​​1113 square kilometers, of which 43 square kilometers are water surface. History

Sullivan County was formed on October 18, 1779 from parts of Washington County. It was named after John Sullivan, a major general of the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War, leader of the Sullivan Expedition of 1779 ( a punitive expedition against the Iroquois ) and later governor of New Hampshire.
