Sultan bin Ahmad

Sultan ibn Ahmad (Arabic: سلطان بن أحمد بن سعيد, DMG Sultan Sa ʿ b Aḥmad īd, .. † November 20, 1804 ) was Sayyid of Muscat from 1792 to 1804.

Sultan ( Sultan ) Ahmad ibn sat down after the death of Hamad ibn Said ( 1784-1792 ) as ruler in Muscat by. After French troops under Napoleon had landed in 1798 in Egypt ( see: Egyptian Expedition ), France and Britain sought an alliance with the ruler of Muscat. Sultan ibn Ahmad finally allied with the British, as he hoped that support them in the fight against piracy of Qawasim of Ras al - Khaimah and against the expansion of the Wahhabis. 1800 conquered the Wahhabis Buraimi oasis and subdued the tribes of the interior of Oman. As the piracy of Qawasim endangered the Gulf trade, Sultan ibn Ahmad in 1804 undertook a naval expedition to the Pirate Coast. In these battles, but he was killed. The succession came to Salim and Said ibn Sultan ( 1804-1856 ).
