Summer Sanders

Summer Elisabeth Sanders ( born October 13, 1972 in Roseville, California ) is a former American swimmer.

At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, she was about 200 m butterfly and the 4 × 100 m medley relay Olympic gold medalist. In addition, she won over 200m medley silver and about 400 m Individual Medley bronze medal. At the World Championships 1991, she had already become the world champion in the 200 m butterfly. After the Games in Barcelona she stepped from swimming back out, just to come back in Atlanta again before the 1996 Olympics, but failed to qualify.

After her career she was a TV presenter and had two appearances in feature films. She is also an ambassador for UNICEF. In 2002, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.

She is married in second marriage with the skier Erik Schlopy. The couple has a daughter named Skye Bella.
