Summoning (band)
Summoning (English, incantation ') is an Austrian metal band. The demos and the debut album Lugburz were still dominated by the traditional Black Metal, but the later releases are far more epic, experimental and keyboard -heavy.

Biography
Founding and early publications
Summoning was founded by Michael " Silenius " Gregor, Richard " Protector" Lederer and Alexander " Trifixion " Trondl 1993. Protector was already a drummer in thrash metal band Marlignom ' and had four years taught at a music school. Silenius played in the Doom metal band Shadow Vale and in Cromm, along with Ray " Pazuzu " Wells. Trifixion played in the band Pervertum.
Summoning recorded two demos ( Upon the Viking's Stallion, Anno Domini Mortiri and a promo of Lugburz ), and a split album with Wells' project Pazuzu on. Almost all the tracks of demos never released on CD, a few have been used in later publications with some modifications.
The demos sold well in a record store called Wiener Why not. Later Silenius came out with Thomas " TT" Tannenberger in contact and became a singer of his band Abigor what some fanzines Summoning referred to the annoyance of Abigor members falsely as Silenius or Abigor - page project. As Abigor at the fledgling label Napalm Records got a contract, Silenius took the opportunity also to get a contract for Summoning. 1995 saw then the first studio album Lugburz. Protector took over keyboard and guitar, Silenius the vocals, bass and also a keyboard. Trifixion was active as a drummer for the last time. Additional vocals and most of the lyrics came from Pazuzu. Lugburz was still very heavily based on the traditional Black Metal, unlike the upcoming releases. Silenius announced in 1995, future releases would be keyboard- dominated and fail bombastic. The band will not recruit new drummer and produce drums and percussion synthetically. They also wanted to move away from a metal- typical drumming and guided by an oriented more to Dead Can Dance percussion. Musical development from Minas Morgul

Let Mortal Heroes 2001 release Sing Your Fame. This album was to classify musically between the new and the old style of the band. The music became more complex through polyphonic articulations of the keyboard and the more rock guitar style. Spoken passages gave the music a dramatic effect. In the title Farewell for the first time came choirs used. There have also been implemented inspirations from Michael Moorcock next to Tolkien's Middle-earth issues. In 2003, another EP called Lost Tales, on which there is an originally written for a side project Mirkwood title and another unpublished Dol Guldur - recording is.
In 2006, the next studio album Oath Bound appeared with completely new material. The long break between albums established the band members with personal problems and lack of ideas. The play of the guitar is described as a quiet arpeggio style. The band was better equipment available, which was a more atmospheric sound of music and better choirs enabled. This was followed by a long pause again, the lack of creativity of musicians led, according to Silenius temporarily to the thought to resolve Summoning. Silenius and Protector devoted themselves in the following years other musical projects. On February 19, 2012 Summoning announced on its website for the end of 2012 a new album. The album should contain an unpublished piece of Oath Bound session. The seventh studio album Old Mornings Dawn was finally published on 7 June 2013 at the Napalm Records.
Side projects
Protector is among other things also a member of The banished children of Eve and Ice Ages. Silenius plays among other things, at the crossroads Amestigon and east. He played until 1999 in Abigor. Both founded in 1995 along the project tomb moon, which was later followed up by Lucia Mariam Fåroutan alone. In addition Silenius founded the one-man project Mirkwood, whose music he provides free of charge on Summonings website.
