Sumner County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Gallatin, the largest city is Hendersonville.

Geography

History

Sumner County was formed on November 18, 1786 from parts of Davidson County. It was named after Jethro Sumner, an American general in the American Revolutionary War.
