Sumo Power

Sumo Power GT was an English motor racing team, which was active in the area of ​​Gran Turismo and 2010 took part in the FIA GT1 World Championship until 2011. The team was part of the JR Motorsports Group ( JRM ).

History

The racing team Sumo Power GT was founded in 2010 by JR Motorsports Group in cooperation with Nismo, the motor sports division of the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan. The name of the team from the British since 2002 active tuning sales Sumo Power, who already in rally and drift racing was previously active and in 2009 merged with JRM received.

2010

In 2010, Sumo Power GT sat as well as the two Swiss Racing Team Nissan GT -R in the newly advertised FIA GT1 World Championship in. The greatest success of the team was the victory of Campbell -Walter and Hughes after the disqualification of the Aston Martin DBR9 of Tomas Enge and Darren Turner at the prestigious RAC Tourist Trophy at Silverstone. Krumm and Dumbreck won the qualifying race in Portugal, but also several other podium finishes both driver pairings were only enough for sixth place in the team standings. 2011

After the Swiss Racing Team Nissan switched to Lamborghini, sat four JRM Nissan GT -R in the FIA ​​GT1 World Championship in, two under his own name, as two Sumo Power GT. After Ricardo Zonta had left the team after the first third of the season, Warren Hughes took over for two events before Nick Catsburg drove for the rest of the year, together with Enrique Bernoldi. Only Campbell -Walter and Brabham reach podium, so that Sumo Power only ranked fifth among the team standings occupied while JR Motorsports team world title just wide and with Krumm and Lucas Luhr reached the drivers' title.

After changing the FIA GT1 World Championship on the rules of the group GT3 in 2012, were neither JRM still Sumo Power GT again.
