Sundanese people

The Sundanese are an ethnic group of about 30.9 million (2000) members in the western part of the island of Java in Indonesia.

They live mainly in the provinces of Jawa Barat (West Java), Banten, Jakarta and the western part of Jawa Timur ( East Java ). Most of them are Muslims. They speak Sundanese ( Sundanese basa sunda, indonesian bahasa sunda ), the second most common language in Indonesia.

The Sundanese are Austronesian origin and reached about 1000 BC Java.
