Sunday Oliseh

Sunday Oliseh ( born 14 September 1974 in abavo ) is a former Nigerian football player who also has a Belgian passport.

At 15, he moved to Belgium to FC Liege. In 1994 he left Belgium and moved to Italy to Reggiana. Just one year later, today's Danish coach Morten Olsen became aware of Oliseh and brought him to the Bundesliga 1 FC Cologne, where he became the leading player of the Cologne team. 1998 brought the midfielder Olsen as coach of Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where he had the most successful period of his career. In 2000 he moved to Italy's top club Juventus. There he could not prevail, and came again in the Bundesliga, this time to Borussia Dortmund.

After threw him back several injuries, he was in 2002/ 03 on loan at VfL Bochum, where in 2004 he experienced the lowest point of his career: After a Bundesliga match against Hansa Rostock good for his humor and friendliness rested known Oliseh suddenly and broke his opponent Wahid Haschemian in the cabin the nasal bone. After another season for Borussia Dortmund Oliseh joined Belgian club KRC Genk 2005. On 23 January 2006 he released there under unclear reasons, his contract with immediate effect after he was still active for Genk was two days earlier on the court.

For the Nigerian national Oliseh completed 62 games and was during his time at Ajax Amsterdam even captain of the Nigerian team. He participated in several World Championships and won - as the culmination of his career - 1996 with the Nigerian team the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

After his playing career was followed by a short-term commitment as a sports coordinator of the Belgian second division KAS Eupen. Again, the reasons for his departure after a few months are unclear. Sunday Oliseh now lives in Belgium.
