Sunder Nix

As the world's annual Best in the 400 - meter race of the year 1982, Sunder Nix with his personal best of 44.68 s on and improved his previous best performance by nearly one second. In 1983, he failed to qualify for the finals only just at the first World Championships. In the final he was initially the home stretch far back, but could still enforce and won in 45.24 s the bronze medal. In the final of the 4 x 400 - meter relay Sunder Nix handed as the second runner Willie Smith, but then crashed, so the squadron was only sixth.

At the 1984 Olympic Games Nix finished second in 44.75 s fifth place with four hundredths of a second behind in third place. As a starter for the U.S. in the final season Nix was slightly, but Ray Armstead and Alonzo Babers ran out a safe lead that Antonio McKay could then walk confidently to victory.
