Sunil Gangopadhyay

Sunil Gangopadhyay ( Bengali: সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়, Sunil Gangopadhyay, born September 7, 1934 at the district Faridpur, Bangladesh today, † 23 October 2012 in Calcutta, India) was a Bengali writer.

He earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1954 and later a Master's degree in Bengali from the University of Calcutta. For many years he was connected with the publishing house of the Anandabazar Patrika next Vice President of the Sahitya Akademi.

As an author, he has published numerous books in various literary genres, but his preference was the lyric. Gangopadhyay was editor of Poetry magazine Krittibas.

Gangopadhyay is also known for his prose. Some of his works have been made ​​into a movie; Aranyer Din Ratri and Pratidwandi of Satyajit Ray and Abar Aranya by Gautam Ghosh.
