History

The first predecessor bank was Farmers Bank of Alexandria, Virginia, founded in 1811. The Sun Trust Banks was formed in 1985 from the merger of the two banks Trust Company of Georgia and Sunbanks from Florida. 1986, shortly after the merger, the Bank Third National Corporation was acquired and in 1998 the company Crestar Financial of Virginia was purchased. 2004 acquired SunTrust Banks, the native of Memphis finance company National Commerce Financial.

Others

SunTrust Banks is closely associated in the past with the well -based in Atlanta Coca Cola Company. It supported her in 1919 when she went public and earned a share of their shares.
