For the 2006 season, two Japanese were committed as a driver: the former BAR driver Takuma Satō and the Formula 1 rookie Yuji Ide. From the GP of Europe Ide was replaced by Franck Montagny, as the FIA suggesting the team, no longer be used because of Ide very poor performance ( "rolling chicane " ) as a Grand Prix driver. After the Grand Prix of Europe, the FIA deprived the former main driver of Super Aguri, Yuji Ide, the Formula 1 racing license (Super Stock ). From the Grand Prix of Germany, the test driver Sakon Yamamoto used for three races took the wheel of the second car of Super Aguri.

The engines for the Super Aguri cars were supplied by Honda, the Bridgestone tires. Due to the FIA regulations, according to which no chassis of a current competitor must be purchased initially modified Arrows A23 from the year 2002, under the name SA05, which were adapted to the new rules. They had originally been acquired by the former Minardi owner Paul Stoddart. The Australians had bought the car along with other equipment after the liquidation of the Arrows team of Tom Walkinshaw. From the Grand Prix of Germany at Hockenheim was a development of the SA05, SA06 of the employed.

The team was only allowed subsequently to participate in the Formula 1 World Championship in 2006. The reason for this was that the necessary deposit of 48 million U.S. dollars as a deposit with the FIA did not receive carried out up to 1 December 2005. The sum was indeed detected by Super Aguri short time later at the FIA , however, the consent of all the teams competing was necessitated by the deadline violation. The end of December also approved the last of the ten remaining teams with MF1 Racing. MF1 Racing feared above all financial losses, since only the ten top-ranked teams will share in the income of the Formula 1 marketing. January 26, 2006 finally came the official confirmation of the subsequent nomination by the FIA.

In the end, the team finished with four points in ninth place, even before the direct rival Spyker and McLaren - Mercedes. The latter team were stripped of all points after the espionage affair.

In the 2008 season, the team with an unchanged driver line-up went to. At the first race, both drivers failed. Due to the poor financial resources, the team could only rarely participate in tests. After the third Grand Prix of the season failed negotiations with a potential investor ( the British Magma Group), which precludes attendance at the Spanish Grand Prix has already been seriously questioned. In the end, was competition and in turn, as in the third race around long Hamilton struggled with reasonably great success with the SA, until he finally passed. In Spanish GP you went solid and without a single test kilometers.

After the trucks of the Japanese and their motorhome, the entrance to the race track at the Grand Prix of Turkey was denied due to the tense situation, Aguri Suzuki announced the withdrawal of his team in Formula 1. The rescue team would be according to press reports seem to have been possible, however, did not materialize partly due to a conflict of interest between Super Aguri and Honda. Honda apparently conceded in negotiations with a new sponsor, the German Weigl Group is a low priority, as they only wanted to make an installment payment of the debt, while magma would have previously been apparent in the case of a contract conclusion ready for a direct debt repayment.
