Super Ape

Super Ape is an album by the band The Upsetters. As a composer, arranger, producer and sound engineer Lee " Scratch" Perry was responsible. Super Ape is stylistically attributable to the reggae or dub.

Super Ape was recorded in 1976 in the Black Ark studio in Jamaica in the following line:

Publications

As Scratch the Super Ape album appeared in 1976, first at the Jamaican Label Upsetter LP. With a modified tracklist has been re-released as Super Ape in the same year the label Iceland.

In 1978, the Upsetters brought out a sequel to Super Return of the Super Ape with Ape.

Reception

In the music database Allmusic Super Ape is performed with five out of five stars.

A reviewer of the Bavarian Radio took Super Ape on the occasion, Lee " Scratch" Perry as one of the " craziest and most experimental producers in music history " and as " King Kong Reggae " to call.
