Supercopa de Campeones Intercontinentales

The Super Copa de Campeones Inter continental (Spanish also: Recopa Sudamericana, English: Supercup of Intercontinental Champions ) was a South American football club competition, which was played only twice ( in 1968/69 and 1969 /70). Eligible were fixed to date South American winners of the designated as the " World Cup " in German-speaking Europe - South American Cup. The competition also served as the South American qualifiers for the imported at the same time Intercontinental Supercup.

Potential participants for the first edition in 1968/69 were CA Peñarol ( winner of the World Cup in 1961, 1966), Santos (1962, 1963) and Racing Club ( Avellaneda ) ( 1967). For the second edition the number of participants to Estudiantes de La Plata (winner 1968) has been extended. After that, not least because of the low interest of clubs from Europe Intercontinental Supercup, waives another host.
