SuperCPU

The SuperCPU is an accelerator card for the home computer C64 and C128, which was originally developed by the U.S. company Creative Micro Designs (CMD ) developed and manufactured. With this card, which is connected to the expansion port of the respective computer, you can speed up the device at 20 MHz. Using the optional SuperRamCard offers the SuperCPU up to 16 MB of memory. Here, the computer is compatible to its original configuration to almost one hundred percent. It is also possible to throttle the accelerator card to 1Mhz to operate games or applications of the C64 or C128 in the normal speed.

The processor of this acceleration card is 65816, an advanced processor of the 6502 family. Since the card has a high electricity demand, a new, specially manufactured power supply for the C64 is necessary.

The card is no longer sold by Creative Micro Designs since 2001, the distribution was taken from 2001 to 2009 by the U.S. company Click Here Software Co., but it is unclear whether after 2001 ever more copies were produced.
