Supermarine Attacker

The Supermarine Attacker was the first jet fighter of the Royal Navy.

History and construction

The construction is based on the Vickers - Supermarine Spiteful E.10/44 beam, which was originally a land-based fighter but was ousted from the competition patterns Gloster Meteor and de Havilland Vampire. The result is a board -based aircraft, which first flew on 17 June 1947. The jet engine is positioned in the hull, the air inlet openings are located near the cockpit. The wings are slightly swept back, as the tailplane. The rudder has a greater sweep. The machine went under the name of Vickers - Supermarine Attacker F.Mk.1 in the Royal Navy in service. A total of 60 machines were sold, another 36 were in the years 1952/53, the Pakistani Air Force.
