Supernatural is the 19th studio album by Mexican guitarist Carlos Santana. It was published in the German-speaking area on 14 June 1999 at Sony BMG and has eight won Grammys in 2000 and about 11,700,000 copies sold, one of the most successful albums of Santana.

Formation

The recordings on the album were created between 1998 and 1999. Besides various producers were also various recording and selected Abmischorte. Most recordings took place in California, for mixing mainly the Fantasy Studios in Berkeley were used. In addition, Santana worked with various guest musicians. These include the songwriter Dave Matthews, the hip- hop musician Everlast, the American musician Rob Thomas, Cee- Lo Green, the songwriter Lauryn Hill, the Mexican rock group Maná, the Swedish musician Eagle Eye Cherry and the British musician Eric Clapton. The album was released on 15 June 1999 in the USA.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine Also awards at Allmusic 4 stars out of 5 and says that although the songs are very good, but by a lack Lead voice and the many guest posts he missed a little consistency.

Whiskey - soda.de awards the school grade 1 and writes to the album, it was a great comeback, but still possess some gaps.

Rezensator.de thinks the album that Santana by the inclusion of younger artists while try moving to other styles of music, this does not always make it. Yet, the album is called " outstanding comeback " and receives six out of ten.

Charts and Awards

In the U.S., the album was 15 times awarded a platinum record in Canada it received a Diamond Record, which corresponds to ten platinum records. Four platinum records there were in Australia and Switzerland, three awards in Spain. Two platinum awards, there were in Germany, Austria, Mexico, France and the United Kingdom, one platinum record awarded in Brazil and Poland.

At the Grammy Awards in 2000, Carlos Santana won eight Grammys for the album. The album itself won the award for best album and best rock album. Carlos Santana was honored for best instrumental composition. The Single Smooth Award for Record of the Year and the best cooperation in the field of pop music, Love Of My Life was also nominated for this category. The award for best instrumental pop presentation was the single El Farol Maria Maria received the award for the best performance of a pop group. Along with Eric Clapton Santana received the award for best instrumental performance, for Put Your Lights On Santana and Everlast were awarded for the best vocal group in the field of pop music for The Calling.
