Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum

The Epigraphicum Supplementum graecum (abbreviated SEG ) is a collection of new books published in years of published ancient Greek inscriptions.

It was founded in 1923 by JJE Hondius and published in cooperation with numerous other epigraphers. In 1950, after the death of Hondius Arthur Geoffrey Woodhead editorship. By 1971, 25 volumes have been published.

After an interruption, the publication was resumed in 1979. Editors were now Henri Willy Pleket and Ronald S. Stroud. Currently, the SEG of Stroud, Angelos Hanioti and JHM Strubbe is issued, supported by Thomas Corsten, MB Richardson and Rolf A. Tybout.

The SEG is arranged geographically and prints scattered in journals or anthologies published inscriptions ( AD to 8th century AD), along with a brief comment. In addition, other publications on Greek epigraphy will be briefly. The SEG at the same time it fulfills the function of an Annual Bibliography of Greek epigraphy and provides an indispensable complement to the large geographical or thematic Inschriftencorpora ( there published texts are usually not included ). Each volume is accessed by indices; to arrive at greater distances separate index volumes.

The SEG is currently appearing with several years of delay, last volume 59, 2009 in December 2013. More recent information, but no complete texts offers the Bulletin épigraphique in the Revue des études grecques.
