Supraclavicular nerves

The Nervi supraclavicular ( " About clavicle nerve " ) are a group of sensitive nerves that arise from the cervical plexus ( cervical plexus ). The root cells of this group of nerves located in the spinal ganglia of the third and fourth cervical segment of the spinal cord (C3 and C4). After isolation from the neck braid pierce at Erb's point, the neck muscles and get off at the neck in the lower skin.

According to their position three sub- groups are identified:

  • The anterior supraclavicular Nervi ( " front About clavicle nerve " ) cross the external jugular vein and the sternocleidomastoid muscle and innervating the skin of the anterior neck.
  • The Nervi supraclavicular intermedii ( " median nerve clavicle " ) cross the clavicle, and supply the skin over the pectoralis major muscle and the deltoid muscle.
  • The Nervi posterior supraclavicular ( " posterior About clavicle nerve " ) run diagonally across the trapezius muscle and the Gräteneck ( acromion ) of the shoulder blade and supply the skin in the upper and posterior shoulder area.

A failure of the Nn. supraclavicular can lead to numbness in the regions mentioned above, however, occurs an isolated interruption of these pathways rarely.
