Supramarginal gyrus
The supramarginal gyrus is a convolution ( gyrus ) in the cerebral cortex and is located in two cerebral halves at the junction of parietal, temporal and occipital lobes, but is attributed to the parietal lobe. It wraps around the rear end of the Sylvian fissure.
Histology
Histologically, it corresponds to Brodmann 's area 40
Topology
Frontal gyrus supramarginal is the essential for the understanding of speech Wernicke's area. Dorsal is the angular gyrus, parietal ( vertex down) of the inferior parietal lobule.
Function
The damage to the supramarginal gyrus of the language-dominant hemisphere of the brain can lead to Gerstmann 's syndrome.
