Supreme Council (Kyrgyzstan)

Zhogorku Kengesch ( Kyrgyz notation: Жогорку Кеңеш, Russian Верховный совет, on German Supreme Council ) Parliament is unicameral parliamentary Kyrgyzstan.

120 members are elected for five years after the proportional representation in the parliament. The number of MPs per party is limited to 65 since 2010.

It is located in the capital Bishkek.

Last election

For the Office of the Speaker of Parliament a candidate after the election Omurbek Tekebayev, whose party Ata Meken had agreed with the SDPK and the Respublika on a three coalition. But with the election of the Speaker of Parliament of 2 December 2010, he failed: For Tekebayev voted only 58 MPs. 61 votes would have been necessary, on their 69, the three coalition partners had at their disposal. Then the triple coalition fell apart again officially.
