Supreme Court of Kenya

The Supreme Court of Kenya is within the political system of the Republic of the Supreme Court of Kenya.

History

The Court has been provided with the adopted by the constitutional referendum in 2010 the new Constitution of Kenya for the first time. Jurisdiction

The Supreme Court has exclusive jurisdiction over disputes relating to the election of Kenyan President appeals against decisions of the other highest courts of Kenya pursuant to Article 163, paragraph 3, 4 and 5 of the Kenyan Constitution, provided that such constitutional issues affecting or if the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court to recognize that it is a question of law of general importance. Composition of the Court

The Supreme Court consists of the Chief Justice of Kenya, who is also the president of the court, the Deputy Chief Justice, who is also vice president of the court and five other judges (Article 163 § 1 of the Constitution).
