Sur (Romansh Sour ) is a municipality in the district of Surses ( Oberhalbstein) of the district of Albula in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

The municipality in the district Sufers Hinter Rhine bears the Latin name Sur.

The tower Spliatsch on the middle of the three hills of Sur is above ( sur ) of the Julia wave bands.

Geography

Sur lies on the Julier Pass road. The lower part of the village Furnatsch is right on the street, the main part of the village is approximately 50 meters above. To Sur, the 2000 m high Alp Flix heard. The highest peak is the 3397 meter high Piz Calderas.

Languages

The vast majority of the population speaks the Romansh Surmeirisch even today. 1880, these were 99.3 %, in 1941 97.4% of the population. Community

The primary school led the congregation from 1975 to 2006 together with Mulegns and Marmorera, for the secondary school students have since 1963 to Savognin. Since 2006, pupils are taught in Bivio. The community is heavily outdated; two-thirds of the residents are over 60 years old.

In March 2006, the voters decided at a community meeting was the first municipality in the above stone to teach the new written language RG at the school. So far, throughout Surmeir common Surmeirisch was taught. On 10 March 2006, the majority rejected the inhabitants of Sur and other towns of the valley from a fusion of all municipalities of the Above stone.
